Ein lang ersehnter Termin im Kalender der Capella Montis war endlich erreicht und so machten wir uns am Dienstag, den 05.03.2024 auf den Weg nach Großbritannien. Die lange Autofahrt (reine Fahrtzeit 10 Stunden) wurde mit tollen landschaftlichen Highlights verschönert. So konnten wir, mit den Mädels in Frankreich die Nordsee und endlose Sandstrände genießen. Nach der Überfahrt am 06.03.2024, mit der Fähre von Dünkirchen nach Dover, führte uns ein kurzer Zwischenstopp zum traumhaften Samphire Hoe, ein Naturreservat mit spektakulärer Aussicht auf die Kreidefelsen und das Meer. Das finale Ziel die Messe N.E.C. in Birmingham war nicht mehr weit. Das ausgewählte Hotel lag nur wenige Meilen von der Messe entfernt und wie sich herausstellte, waren gut befreundete Aussteller nicht weit von uns entfernt. Somit waren die kommenden Stunden und Abende in angenehmer Gesellschaft gesichert.
Am 07.03.2024 um 5:00 Uhr war es dann soweit. All unsere Vorbereitungen zur CRUFTS 2024 im Vorfeld sollten nun in die Realität umgesetzt werden. Das frühe Aufstehen, war dem verfrühten Beginn des Richtens ab 08:00 Uhr geschuldet. Bei 222 gemeldeten Dalmatinern war dies, wie es sich im Laufe des Tages herausstellten sollte, die beste Entscheidung.
Eine wirklich rundherum super organisierte Ausstellung wartete auf uns. Angefangen bei den Einlasskontrollen, welche bei der Vielzahl der Hunde super schnell durchgeführt wurden und somit lange Wartezeiten (sicher auch unserem frühen Start zu verdanken) ausblieben. In der großen Messehalle 1 waren viele Stände von Händlern, der Merchandise Stand der Crufts 2024 und die berühmten „grünen“ und vor allem großen Ausstellungsflächen für alle qualifizierten Hunde zu finden. Positiv aufgefallen sind uns die direkt am Ring aufgebauten Sitzmöglichkeiten, für Aussteller und Besucher. Damit war ein freier Blick auf alle Hunde im Ring gegeben und man war näher dran, als wir es bislang erleben durften. Alle Zelte, Boxen oder sonstigen Utensilien der Aussteller hatten im Hintergrund genügend Platz und waren somit abseits vom Ring gut erreichbar. Durch den Veranstalter gab es auch Benches (abgetrennte Boxen), welche für die gemeldeten Hunde reserviert waren. Hier fand man die Startnummer und konnte diese Box für den ganzen Aufenthalt exklusiv für seinen Hund nutzen.
Ab 08:00 Uhr begann die Richterin Ms. J Stevenson (UK) die Dalmatiner zu richten. Für uns ungewohnt, waren zum einem die andere Klassenaufteilung, wie wir es gewohnt sind und zum anderen, die Ringaufstellung.
In Großbritannien gibt es folgende Klassen:
Veteran / Minor Puppy / Puppy / Junior / Yearling / Post Graduate / Limit / Open / Good Citizen
-> unsere Mädels waren für die Open Class gemeldet
Die Ringaufstellung in den einzelnen Klassen erfolgt nicht, wie bei den uns bekannten Ausstellungen, nach Startnummer. In GB sucht man sich einfach einen Platz in seiner Klasse und stellt sich dort auf.
Nachdem die Rüden beurteilt waren, wurde gegen 13:00 Uhr die erste Pause der Richterin eingelegt, um dann mit den Hündinnen weiter zu machen. Mrs. Stevenson nahm sich für jeden Dalmatiner ausreichend Zeit und so hatten auch wir am späten Nachmittag mit Kara und Arya endlich UNSEREN Auftritt auf der CRUFTS. Beide haben trotz der langen Wartezeit bis zum richten, im Ring in unseren Augen zu 100% „abgeliefert“ und machten uns damit sehr glücklich. Bei einer sehr starken Konkurrenz von 21 Hündinnen in dieser Klasse sind sie ohne Platzierung geblieben, aber allein die Qualifikation dabei zu sein, ist für uns schon Auszeichnung genug.
Mit all diesen Eindrücken, einem leckeren abschließenden Abendessen in der Geburtsstadt W. Shakespeare, den vielen tollen Gesprächen mit guten Freunden und neu gewonnen Freunden, ging es am 08.03.2024 wieder auf den Heimweg.
Unser Fazit zur CRUFTS:
Hier waren wir sicher nicht das letzte Mal.

A long-awaited appointment in the calendar of the Capella Montis was finally reached and so we made our way to Great Britain on Tuesday, 03/05/2024. The long car ride (sure driving time 10 hours) was embellished with great scenic highlights. So we could enjoy the North Sea and endless sandy beaches with the girls in France. After the crossing on 03/06/2024, with the ferry from Dunkirch to Dover, a short stopover took us to the dreamlike Samphire Hoe, a nature reserve with spectacular views of the chalk cliffs and the sea. The final destination the N.E.C. fair in Birmingham was not far away. The selected hotel was only a few miles away from the fair and as it turned out, well-friendly exhibitors were not far from us. Thus, the coming hours and evenings were secured in pleasant company.
On 03/07/2024 at 5:00 a.m. the time had come. All our preparations for CRUFTS 2024 in advance should now be realised. Getting up early was due to the early start of the judge from 08:00 a.m. With 222 registered Dalmatians, this was, as it should turn out during the day, the best decision.
A really super organised exhibition all around was waiting for us. Starting with the admission controls, which were carried out super fast with the large number of dogs and thus did not have long waiting times (certainly also due to our early start). In the large exhibition hall 1 there were many stands of dealers, the merchandise stand of the Crufts 2024 and the famous „green“ and above all large exhibition spaces for all qualified dogs. We were positively struck by the seating options built directly on the ring, for exhibitors and visitors. This gave a clear view of all the dogs in the ring and you were closer than we were allowed to experience so far. All tents, boxes or other utensils of the exhibitors had enough space in the background and were therefore easily accessible away from the ring. Through the organiser, there were also benches (separated boxes), which were reserved for the registered dogs. Here you found the start number and could use this box exclusively for your dog for the entire stay.
From 08:00 a.m., the judge Ms. J Stevenson (UK) to judge the Dalmatians. Unusual for us, on the one hand, were the other class division, as we are used to and on the other hand, the ring constellation.

The ring line-up in the individual classes does not take place by start number, as with the exhibitions known to us. In the UK, you simply look for a place in your class and line up there.
After the males were judged, the judge’s first break was taken around 1:00 p.m. in order to then continue with the bitches. Mrs. Stevenson took enough time for every Dalmatian and so we finally had OUR appearance at the CRUFTS in the late afternoon with Kara and Arya. Despite the long waiting time until the judge, both have 100% „delivered“ in the ring in our eyes and made us very happy with it. With a very strong competition of 21 bitches in this class, they have remained without a placement, but being there alone is already a distinction enough for us.
With all these impressions, a delicious final dinner in the birthplace of W. Shakespeare, the many great conversations with good friends and new friends, we went home again on 03/08/2024.
Our conclusion about CRUFTS:
We were certainly not here for the last time.
